The Universe is created out of five basic elements, called the panchamahabhutas, namely the earth (prithvi), water (jal), fire (tejas), wind (vayu) and space (akasha). The Mother Earth is supreme and shall be saved when all elements are taken care of. Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The concept of Earth Day was first introduced by peace activist John McConnell at a UNESCO Conference in 1969 and the first celebration was held on April 22, 1970, which now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally. The official theme of 2023 World Earth Day is “Invest in Our Planet”. So let us resolve to invest our time, attention, and efforts to take care of at least one element to the best of our ability! I am taking care of the water, have you identified yours?
Happy World Earth Day 2023!!
